Brighton Bowmen was founded in January 2011. Shortly thereafter we began shooting at St Aubyn’s School in Rottingdean before moving to the Longhill Sports Centre (formerly the Deans Leisure Centre until September 2015) in May 2014. The club’s activities comprise outdoor and indoor target archery, beginner’s courses and taster sessions. You’ll find more information about each of these below. Information about joining us and fees for the current season can be found in the membership section. Members and guests should also read this notice about Range Safety and the Rules of Shooting.
Archers of all ages and abilities are welcome to shoot with us outdoors from the first weekend in April to the last weekend of September and indoors from the first weekend of October to the last weekend of March.
Indoors:
Saturdays from 11:00 to 16:30, Sundays: usually 11:00 to 16:30 – ask one of our members for details.
Outdoors:
Saturdays: 9:00 to 16:30, Sundays: 9:00 to 16:30.
Guests are welcome, provided you have proof of Archery GB membership and you are willing to help set up and take down the range. Target fees are £5 per session. Junior members and guests aged under 18 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult whilst shooting is taking place.
Our beginners’ courses are the ideal introduction to archery for anyone interested in taking up the sport. Courses take place throughout the year, including the Autumn and Winter months. These have received excellent feedback and have proved extremely popular. You can find more information on upcoming courses on our Beginners Courses page.
From time to time we organise 90-minute archery taster sessions. If you’re one of the many people who’ve always wanted to try archery, here is your opportunity! Details of forthcoming taster sessions can be found in our Archery Taster Sessions section.
