About

Archery truly is a sport for all, regardless of age and physical ability. If you are interested in finding out more, our beginners courses are the ideal introduction to the sport.

Can children take part?

Our courses are suitable for people of all ages from 10 years old. Note that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied to each session by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult. Please also note that we must be informed in advance of any medical condition or medication being taken.

 

When do the courses take place? And where?

From the beginning of April until the end of September, courses take place outdoors over one weekend, and comprise one session on a Saturday, and one session on a Sunday. During the Autumn and Winter months, courses take place indoors over one weekend, and comprise of one session on Saturday afternoon, and one session on Sunday afternoon. The venue for our outdoor courses is on the small field at the Longhill Sports Centre, Falmer Road, Rottingdean, BN2 7FR. The venue for our indoor courses is in the Longhill Sports Centre, Falmer Road, Rottingdean, BN2 7FR.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

All equipment and insurance cover is provided. You are strongly advised not to purchase archery equipment before you have attended a course. If you already own equipment, you should leave it at home. There will not be time during a session to check its condition and evaluate its suitability for use on the course.

What will I get out of the course?

The objective of the course is to provide you with a comprehensive introduction to modern archery. Core topics include range safety, correct shooting technique, an introduction to the main types of modern archery, equipment choice, an overview of how the sport is organised in the UK and advice on finding the right archery club for you.

Who will be teaching the course?

Experienced archers who are also qualified Archery GB instructors or coaches. Course numbers do not exceed 15.
